Our museum volunteers were busy entertaining the public at Hever Castle's annual Home Front event last weekend. Our Saladin armoured car had her escape hatch open for the first time in many years, allowing visitors a good look inside. The star attraction was our handling display of firearms, which attracted both children and adults. The gentleman in the photo, dressed as Churchill, shows weapon handling skills with cigar firmly held in his teeth! We wonder if there are any real photos of Churchill beside a Ferret armoured car? Ferrets were first produced in 1952, Churchill died in 1965, so if anyone does have such a photo we would love to get a copy.
