Sharpshooters 1914-1918
Macedonia 1916
In November 1916 the Sharpshooters were sent as infantry reinforcements for the British Army fighting the Bulgarians in Macedonia and Greece. Here they found themselves spending a further six months in the trenches.
Egypt and Palestine 1917-1918
On their return to Egypt in May 1917, the Sharpshooters were sent to join the Desert Mounted Corps under Allenby, in the last major cavalry campaign in British military history. They took part in the capture of Beersheba and led the advance through the hills of Judea on the approaches to Jerusalem.
